Our relationship with the EU has, over the last 43 years, been one of the most divisive, toxic and emotive issues in politics whilst also being perhaps the most manipulated and poisonous source of media coverage ever.

'Our relationship with the EU has, over the last 43 years, been one of the most divisive, toxic and emotive issues in politics'.
It’s a story of war, imperialism and island mentality but at its heart is the underlying recognition that unity gives us stability, peace and prosperity - as this has demonstrably been the case you might be wondering why we would want to leave.
It’s the question everyone is asking and if you’re anything like me you will have been looking for an answer that makes sense. However, the problem for all of us is the sheer overwhelming weight of contradictory information that needs to be waded through to find even one iota of evidence that you can hang your hat on. Just when you think you’ve reached a conclusion on the ‘facts’ you’ll read another article that makes a nonsense of it; it’s like trying to nail gravy to a plate.
On this basis I’ve spent the last 3 weeks completing a considerable amount of research (you will find source links for you to verify in each article). I wanted to make an informed choice and therefore reasoned that sharing it might help shed some light on the main issues that other voters might also find useful. This has, I’m afraid, turned me into a rather opinionated bore and I feel sure that if anyone did organize a EU Last Supper on the eve of the vote I wouldn’t be invited for fear of upsetting the guests or hastening their departure. This spent and unconsidered earth will of course continue to revolve regardless of the outcome, but as decisions go this is a biggie.
If this detail helps you formulate your own opinion then please do share it, information is power and unlike the veneer of modern democracy, it’s a power that you might actually find useful.
